I have been a behavioural dog trainer since the year 2000.
Before then, I was a horse riding instructor, so teaching people how to interact with animals has been part of my life since I left college.
Born in 1969 animals have always been a big part of my life, with my childhood full of cats, dogs and ponies!
I was allowed to have my own dog for the first time when I was 11 years old. Her name was Frosty, a German shepherd cross puppy from Battersea Dogs home, who had the sweetest temperament but was a challenge to train!
Back then it was "the Barbara Woodhouse way" and I was never sure I liked the idea of choking my dearest Frosty and blowing up her nose made her sneeze! (If you have no idea what I am on about then you are clearly too young to remember!)
Sadly Frosty died when I was 21, a very sad time for me indeed.
I remained "dog less" until 1997.
I went back to Battersea dogs home. After an interview and no less than 4 hours of walking round the kennels I left with "Mia". At the time I was unaware what a fabulous choice I had made. Almost 10 years on and I treasure every moment I have with this incredibly special little canine!
A few months after Mia came into my life my equine career ended and so began the path to the behavioural trainer I am today.
I now work at a veterinary clinic in west London where Mia can come to work with me every day!
This gives me a wonderful opportunity to meet lots of people who love animals and best of all I get paid to do what I love the most.. to educate those who want to learn how to improve their relationship with their pet.
